People ask if it’s possible to sleep even with the Smart car in our bedroom. Well, what I tell them is that it’s every guy’s dream: Sleeping in his garage 😉
We built a very simple mechanism using a trailer awning gear, which, connected to a 1″ aluminum rod, winds up seatbelt-style straps attached to the walls. We use an electric drill to do that.
The bed is then secured with E-track wood beam sockets and wall-mounted rails. This setup ensures the bed isn’t supported solely by the seatbelt straps. We still have 2′ on top to sleep and that’s why the bedroom’s window at different height !
